Flavours of Old France
Posted by Ilona Roberts on
Traditional French winemaking at its best Earthy wines made in the old school way when French red wine was made for food. The Cote du Rhone with its dry ripe fruit flavours mingled with spices marries well with steak. But if lamb is on your menu, then opt for the Cotes du Rhone Villages which satisfies in a robust yet elegant way.Somewhat lighter is the Vin du Pays, a vivaciously fruity red with a dry finish that works wonders with cheese. Honest, traditional, French!

The Chenin Blanc grapes, from the Robertson Valley, are planted on the riverbanks in rows to utilize the prevailing sea breezes - at least they don't need to survive our stormy winds!Beat the storms and taste the sunshine.
Glass of Port with chocolate torte?
Posted by Ilona Roberts on
Port has been in existence since the 15th centuryand we still love it! This Portuguese fortified wine comes in a variety of styles. Ruby Port is fruity and juicy whilst Tawny Port is paler, the colour of walnuts, and has a nutty flavour from oak ageing. Traditionally served with cheese at the end of a meal, but why not try something different? Ruby Port with chocolate cake can be the perfect pairing or serve White Port as an aperitif or with tonic as a summer drink. Which one will you choose?
