Most New Zealand wines come from the Marlborough region but if you travel a little further on the north coast to Nelson you come to Waimea Estate. Here, the ancient stony river plains and maritime influence create perfect conditions for producing elegant, aromatic wines. Waimea may be smaller than its neighbouring wineries but that hasn’t stopped it winning gold for its 2017 Sauvignon Blanc.
