Domaine Mirabau, Cotes du Rousillon
Well balanced & rounded; a blend of Grenache and Syrah which offers plenty of fruit with finesse. Warm up a winter dinner with fleshy fruits and the perfect balance for food. Made by Daniel and Guy Ferrer in the village of Terrats which lies south of Perpignan near the border with Spain. Domaine Mirabau is on terraces overlooking the left bank of the Canterrane river, with soils based on schist and quartz.
The name of the property comes from Mirar: to see and bau: nice; referring to the nice view that you have from the estate. An interesting legend has it that there was on the site of Terrats a city named Mirmanda, older than Barcelona, which was the land of fairies before being destroyed by a sharp rise of the sea waters (we can't verify this, but can confirm the wine is delicious).
